SUNDAY SCHOOL
Bethpage
offers Sunday school classes for all ages. Children and youth are
grouped according to age and/or school grade level.
Infants - 2 years
(Room 205 & 207 in
educational building)
Bethpage provides a caring nursery facility. Excellent nursery
care is provided for the smallest of our community.
Ages
2 - 5
(Room 114 in
educational building)
2- through 5-year olds are invited to creatively experience God's Word in age-appropriate
ways within a safe learning environment using the "Rock Solid" curriculum.
Grades K-5
(Rooms 300, 301, 302, & 307 in the educational building)
Elementary ages learn in The B.A.M. (Bible And Me) Caravan using workshop
rotation. Each month they learn about one Bible story in a variety of
ways. Children are encouraged to dig deep into God's Word by concentrating
on one story for a longer period of time and through many different media.

NURSERIES
Bethpage
provides a full nursery facility. Our nurseries are excellently staffed
with loving volunteers from our congregation. We provide nursery care for
infants and toddlers during Sunday School in rooms 205 and 207. During the Second Worship Service, a nursery is provided for
infants and toddlers in rooms 205-207. Parents are asked to sign
in when
they bring their children to the nursery, and label all personal belongings.
We take seriously our
ministry
to the youngest ones of our church and community,
and we strive for a
clean, safe, nurturing environment
where children can begin to learn
God's love
through tender touch and care.

CHILDREN'S WORSHIP
Children
are always welcome in all our worship services. During the 11:00 AM Sunday
Worship Service, children are invited forward for the "Time with Younger
Christians," after which children age 4 years through first grade are invited to
attend Children's Worship in the Children's Chapel in the basement of the
sanctuary building. Here, trained leaders engage children in
age-appropriate worship using the Godly Play model. Children sing, hear,
and see the Bible presented before them each week using wooden figures, and
respond to God's Word for them through discussion and artwork.
We believe it is important for the
body of Christ to worship together, especially on Communion Sundays and Festival
celebrations, such as Easter Sunday or special musical presentations.
Therefore, Children's Worship is not offered on Sundays when these occur.
To aid children in worshipping
God, special children's bulletins are offered every Sunday. These
bulletins provide visual reminders of parts of the worship service, as well as
an activity appropriate to the day's worship.
Children are active participants
in worship services on a regular basis through Children's Choir, Junior Choir,
Genesis Ringers, service as acolytes, reception of 5 cents-a-meal offering, and
other special events.
Special classes about
worship are offered each year for children. These classes include
introduction to Children's Worship, learning about regular worship, and
education about Sacraments. When pastors and parents feel a child is ready
to participate in the Celebration of the Lord's Supper, children are invited for
First Communion. This special rite of passage is recognized in a special
and meaningful way at Bethpage. <top>

KIDS' CLUB
On
Wednesday nights, September through April, children in Kindergarten through fifth
grade are invited to participate in Kids' Club.
Held
from 6:30 until 7:30 PM and led by volunteers from this church, children are
guided in a variety of activities including media-driven story time, music,
activities, and games —
all centered around a Christian message.
Kids' Club will resume on September 8,
2010!

MUSIC PROGRAMS
INVOLVING CHILDREN
(meets September - April)
(will
resume meeting on September 8, 2010!)
Children's
Choir, for grades K - 5, meets Wednesday
evenings, 5:30 - 6:00 for a joyful time of
active music. They learn to use voice and
simple instruments, and sing regularly in worship services through the year.
Occasionally, this choir combines
with other choirs for special services and intergenerational anthems for the
glory of God.
Older children often use their musical abilities in other presentations throughout the
year, including instrument accompaniments for programs and presenting solo or
ensemble performances. At Bethpage, we encourage use of all levels of
musical ability in praise of God. <top>

Vacation
Bible School -
is a special time during the summer where people of all
ages from the community gather to learn from God's Word in exciting ways.
Crafts, music, and drama are used to present Bible stories in a new light.
Our
2010 Joint Vacation Bible School,
Galactic Blast,
was held at Bethpage Presbyterian Church,
July 13th - 15th,
from 5:30 until 8:15 PM each day. Again this year neighboring Presbyterian churches
in the Kannapolis/Concord Area came together
to make a Statement of Unity.
Classes were available for all ages (adults too!) and a great time was
had by all!

Egg Hunt -
We celebrate the joy of Easter with an annual Egg Hunt for
young children. Activities have included dying eggs, finding eggs on the
church lawn, craft activities, and hearing the story of Jesus' resurrection told
in active ways. <top>
Advent-ures
- Children, Youth, Adults . . . Everyone is invited
to join us for creative, meaningful, intergenerational experiences of Advent, a
time of preparation in the church for Christ's birth.
<top>
Christmas Program
- A highlight of our preparations for Christmas is the
Christmas program. Each year the story of Jesus' birth is retold in fresh
and exciting ways by children of all ages. <top>
Summer Camp -
Bethpage helps sponsor children's attendance to summer camp experiences at our
local Presbyterian camp, Camp Grier in Old Fort, NC. Children enjoy the
rustic mountains of North Carolina while exploring the message of God's Word for
their lives. (Click here to visit
Camp Grier's web site.) <top>
