Neighboring Presbyterian churches --- Covenant Presbyterian Church, Kannapolis, Bethpage Presbyterian Church, Concord and Bethpage Presbyterian Church, Kannapolis --- came together for Vacation Bible School in an effort to create community and reach out to our community. This Joint VBS was held at Bethpage Presbyterian Church, Kannapolis on June 23rd, 24th and 25th. We began each day with a delicious supper followed by classes, activities and programs for every age group --- infants through adults. Using the CAMP EDGE VBS outdoorsy/camping style, participants explored the themes God Guides Me - God Loves Me - God Sends Me. A fun time was had by all with an average attendance of 170-200 people each night! Our VBS mission project this year was supporting the Community Free Clinic in Concord. An offering was received each evening to provide funds for this valuable ministry of our community. Founded in 1994 by retired physicians Dr. George Liles and Dr. David Lockhart, the Community Free Clinic helps Cabarrus County adults move toward wellness by providing healthcare and pharmacy service to low-income, uninsured citizens at no charge. Financial assistance is used to buy medications and equipment for the patients, support general operations, and purchase needed medical supplies. Dr. Lockhart and Dr. Liles provide inspiration and leadership to hundreds of volunteers who are the backbone of the Clinic. There are many opportunities for volunteering at the Community Free Clinic --- for more information, please visit their web site at www.communityfreeclinic.org. The patients will benefit from your donation of time and talents! The 2009 Joint Vacation Bible School was just one of the ministries of the Kannapolis Area Mini-Cluster --- a group of Presbyterian churches in our area working together to provide ministry outside their own church walls. Along with joint services within the group, other ministries the Mini-Cluster supports are Family Promise and Stop Hunger Now.
