CCM Mobile Food Pantry
BPC-K sponsors the Cooperative Christian Ministry Mobile Food Pantry once a year in the church parking lot. On the day of the event, people begin arriving early in the morning to line up. When the Second Harvest Food Truck arrives, volunteers from BPC-K work to stuff bags and carry heavy boxes. But is is not only food the volunteers offer, it is respect and care. We welcome folks with smiles, a cool drink of water, and a kind word. Here at Bethpage we have served as many as 325 units -- that means 325 families were fed. What a wonderful picture of Christ's call for us to feed those who are hungry!
CCM conducts Mobile Food Pantries on a monthly basis in neighborhoods of high need. These highly effective food distribution programs overcome the absence of transportation for many struggling families, and provide supplemental groceries at a very efficient cost to CCM. Food is provided through a partnership between CCM and Feeding America's Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina.
